To monetize a TikTok account, join the Creator Rewards Program once you are 18 or older with 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, and post original videos longer than one minute. Add LIVE Gifts at 1,000 followers, then TikTok Shop commissions, brand deals and your own products.
The most expensive mistake is waiting for 10,000 followers before earning anything. Brand deals, affiliate links and your own products have no follower minimum. Creator Rewards, meanwhile, pays only for qualified For You views of original videos: a duet, a stitch or a lightly edited repost earns nothing, however many views it gets.

Every way to monetize TikTok, at a glance
| Method | Who can use it | How you get paid |
|---|---|---|
| Creator Rewards Program | 18+, 10,000 followers, 100,000 views in the last 30 days, Personal account | Per qualified view on original videos of one minute or more |
| LIVE Gifts | 18+, 1,000 followers (threshold may vary by region) | Viewers send Gifts during your LIVE |
| TikTok Shop affiliate | US: 18+, 1,000 followers, self-apply | Commission on products sold from your videos and LIVEs |
| Brand deals | No follower minimum; brands judge views and audience fit | Flat fee per video or campaign, plus usage rights |
| External affiliate links | No TikTok minimum; check that your account can add a bio link | Commission from programs such as Amazon Associates |
| Your own products and services | No minimum | You keep the margin on every sale |
| Off-platform audience (YouTube, email) | No minimum | Ads, sponsors and sales on channels you own |
Creators who earn steadily combine two or three of these, because each depends on something different: views, trust or a product. Use your follower count to decide where to start:
- Under 1,000 followers: pitch small brands, add affiliate links and sell one simple product or service. Our guide to monetizing a small TikTok account covers this stage in detail.
- 1,000 to 10,000 followers: add LIVE Gifts and, in the US, the TikTok Shop affiliate program.
- 10,000+ followers and 100,000 views in 30 days: apply to Creator Rewards and make part of your output longer than one minute.

How to get monetized on TikTok: the Creator Rewards Program
Creator Rewards is TikTok's program that pays you for views, and it is the one to aim for today. Guides that tell you to join the TikTok Creator Fund are out of date, and so are the per-view rates quoted with it.
Creator Rewards requirements
- Be at least 18 years old (19 in South Korea).
- Have at least 10,000 followers.
- Have at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days.
- Use a Personal account. Business accounts and political or government accounts are not eligible.
- Post videos that are at least one minute long. Only videos posted after you join can earn.
How to join
- If you run a Business account, switch it to a Personal account in your account settings.
- Open TikTok Studio from your profile menu and look for the Creator Rewards Program among the monetization tools.
- If you meet the requirements, apply and accept the terms. If the program is not listed, it is not yet available for your account or country.
- From then on, post original videos longer than one minute. Videos posted before you joined don't earn.
How to monetize views on TikTok
TikTok pays Creator Rewards on qualified views: unique views from the For You feed, excluding fraudulent, paid, promoted, artificial and under-5-second views. A video starts earning only after 1,000 qualified For You views, and views from your profile, search or the Following feed don't count.
Your payout has two parts. The Standard Reward is your qualified views multiplied by a rate per 1,000 qualified views (RPM). On top of that, an Additional Reward depends on how well-crafted, engaging and specialized TikTok judges the content to be. TikTok publishes no fixed RPM, so any exact per-view figure you read is an estimate. For realistic ranges, see how much TikTok pays per view.
Do videos over one minute get fewer views?
Not by much. In Revid's analysis of 176,367 TikToks with 1,000+ likes posted between October 2025 and October 2026, every length bucket from under 15 seconds to 10 minutes had a median between 58K and 76K views. Videos of 61 to 90 seconds reached 70K, above the 58K of videos under 15 seconds. The sample only includes videos that already passed 1,000 likes, and it shows what successful videos have in common rather than causes. Still, it removes the main reason to stay short. The full method is in our study of what makes a TikTok go viral.
Length alone barely moves views: every bucket lands between 58K and 76K median views (the 790 videos over 10 minutes are a small, unusual group). Clips under 15 seconds get shared the most per view.

Show the data
| Median views | Share that passed 1M views | Shares per 100 views | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 15 s | 57.6K | 11.6% | 1 |
| 16 to 30 s | 64.9K | 12.3% | 1 |
| 31 to 60 s | 61.8K | 11.8% | 1 |
| 61 to 90 s | 70.5K | 12.2% | 1 |
| 91 s to 3 min | 63.4K | 11.1% | 1 |
| 3 to 10 min | 76.4K | 12.4% | 1 |
| 10 min+ | 129.6K | 13.8% | 0 |
The practical rule: if a topic genuinely needs a minute or more (a tutorial, a story with a payoff, a product review), make it long and earn on it. Don't pad a short idea to cross the one-minute line. Viewers skip padding, and the Additional Reward weighs how engaging the video is.

Make a 75-second original TikTok tutorial on how to meal prep five high-protein work lunches for under $30. Open with the hook "Your work lunch is costing you $3,000 a year." Use clean kitchen b-roll, a friendly voiceover and bold captions, one step per scene, and end on the finished containers lined up.
How to earn money from TikTok LIVE Gifts
LIVE Gifts are usually the first in-app income a creator can reach. Going LIVE requires being 18 and having 1,000 followers (the threshold may vary by region). Sending or receiving Gifts requires being 18 (19 in South Korea), and LIVE and Gifts are not available in every country.
Viewers buy Gifts with real money and send them during your stream. The Gifts turn into Diamonds in your account, which you can withdraw. Three things earn Gifts:
- A reason to stay: a live Q&A, a review of viewers' work, or a build or cook-along with a clear finish.
- A fixed schedule: go LIVE at the same time each week, at an hour when your followers are active. The Followers tab in TikTok Studio analytics breaks follower activity down by hours and days.
- Interaction, not requests: answer comments by name and thank Gifts when they arrive. Asking for Gifts every few minutes drives people out.
How to monetize your TikTok by selling products
Selling pays per sale rather than per view, so a small, focused audience can earn more here than a large, general one. You can sell other brands' products through TikTok Shop, send viewers to outside affiliate programs, or sell your own.
TikTok Shop affiliate requirements (US)
In the US, TikTok Shop Affiliate Creators must self-apply, be at least 18 and have at least 1,000 followers. Creators with fewer than 5,000 followers are placed in the Affiliate Creator Pilot Program for at least 30 days and must reach 5,000 followers to graduate. Requirements differ by country, so check TikTok Shop's creator pages for yours.
Once accepted, you pick products from the Shop marketplace, tag them in videos or LIVEs, and earn a commission on each sale. Viewers buy without leaving the app. Sellers set commission rates, so they vary by product.
The market is large. EMARKETER estimated that TikTok Shop's US sales would grow 108.0% in 2025 to $15.82 billion, or 18.2% of US social commerce (more UGC and social commerce statistics).
Input
Create an authentic UGC-style TikTok advertisement for the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 featuring a relatable young female content creator filming in her bright, modern apartment.
Output
Videos that sell without a hard pitch
- The demo: use the product to do what your audience already watches you do. A food creator cooks wings in the air fryer, and the crispy result is the pitch.
- Problem, then solution: open on a real problem ("my desk cables were a mess"), show the fix, then show the result.
- The honest review: name one thing you don't like. In Bazaarvoice's Shopper Preference Report 2025, 43% of shoppers said they trust creators who share both the pros and cons of a product.
- The comparison: put two or three options side by side and give a clear pick for a specific buyer.
Prompt to try
Create a 30-second vertical problem-then-solution video about fixing a messy desk with an under-desk cable tray. Hook: "My desk cables were a mess until I tried this." Show the tangle, the quick install, then the clean result, with a casual voiceover and captions, and mention one honest downside before the final shot.
Make product videos faster with Revid
If you sell your own products or promote a long list of Shop items, filming each one gets slow. Revid's product video generator reads a product page URL, keeps the product's real photos, writes the script and generates the video, which you can edit and publish straight to TikTok. Use it for the products you can't film, and keep hands-on demos for your best sellers.
TikTok Shop vs external affiliate links
| Feature | TikTok Shop | External affiliate links |
|---|---|---|
| Checkout | Inside TikTok, no app switch | Viewers leave TikTok to buy |
| Commission | Set by each seller | Set by each program (Amazon Associates, brand programs) |
| Finding products | Built-in marketplace, samples from sellers | You join and manage each program yourself |
| Best for | Visual, impulse-priced products that demo well | Software, courses and higher-priced items that need more thought |
The rule most sellers can follow: tag visual, low-priced products through Shop, and keep a curated bio-link page for everything that needs a longer decision. If commission deals are new to you, this overview of affiliate marketing for content creators explains how programs, links and payouts work.
How to land brand deals on TikTok
Brand deals usually pay the most per video, and they depend on audience fit more than follower count. A creator with 20,000 followers who gets 15,000 views per video is worth more to a brand than one with 100,000 followers and 2,000 views.
Get your profile ready
- Bio: name the audience and the promise. "Easy 30-minute vegan dinners" tells a brand manager more than "food lover".
- Grid: your last 9 to 12 videos are your portfolio. Keep them in one niche with consistent quality.
- Media kit: one page with your niche, average views, engagement rate, audience age and location, and past results. Our influencer media kit guide shows what to include.
Where to find brand deals
Start with TikTok's official brand-creator platform, TikTok One (which absorbed the former Creator Marketplace). Brands use it to filter creators by niche, audience and performance. Access depends on your region and account, so check what's available in the app.
Then pitch directly. List 10 to 20 brands you already use and find their marketing or partnerships contact on their site or LinkedIn. Skip "can we work together" and pitch one specific video idea, explain why your audience fits, and link two past videos that prove it.
How to price a brand deal
Base your rate on four things:
- Average views over your last 10 to 20 videos, not your best one.
- Engagement rate: (likes + comments) / followers x 100. For reference, Socialinsider's 2026 study of 69 million short-form videos found an average engagement rate by followers of 2.60% for TikTok (more short-form benchmarks). Run your numbers through our TikTok engagement rate calculator.
- Audience demographics: an audience a brand struggles to reach (a specific profession, country or income bracket) justifies a premium.
- Usage rights: if the brand wants to run your video as an ad, charge for it. Aspire's 2026 research found that many creators price paid usage at 15% to 35% of their base rate per 30 days.
For market context, Bind Media's roundup of TikTok advertising statistics and TekRevol's compilation of TikTok statistics collect third-party figures. Check each figure's date and source before you quote it to a brand.
Build income you own outside TikTok
Your TikTok audience lives on a platform you don't control, and the platform keeps changing. In the US, TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC was established on January 23, 2026 to run TikTok and is retraining its recommendation algorithm on US user data, so reach can shift without warning. Income you own protects you from that.
- Merch: print-on-demand services let you sell apparel with your catchphrases or logo without holding inventory. Sell only what fits your content: custom mousepads make sense for a gaming creator.
- Digital products: e-books, templates, workout plans, presets or recipe guides. You make them once and they cost almost nothing to deliver.
- Coaching and consulting: if you're an authority in a niche, sell one-on-one sessions, paid workshops, or account management for brands.
- Channels you own: use short TikToks as trailers for longer videos on YouTube, and send your bio link to a newsletter sign-up. An email list is the one audience no algorithm can take away.
The index leans toward videos that surface in hashtag and keyword searches, so its view counts run high: compare the groups, not the absolute numbers.

What kind of TikTok content makes the most money
The accounts that make money on TikTok build trust in a specific niche, then match their content to the method they earn from:
- Creator Rewards: original videos of a minute or more that hold attention, such as tutorials, explainers and stories with a payoff.
- TikTok Shop and affiliates: demos, comparisons and honest reviews in beauty, home, tech and fashion.
- Brand deals: a consistent niche with a recognizable format, so a brand can picture its product in your next video.
- Your own products: educational content that solves part of a problem for free and sells the rest.

How to make more monetizable videos without burning out
Once two or three income streams are running, time becomes the limit, not ideas. Build a system instead of filming from scratch every day.
- Read your analytics first. In TikTok Studio, open Analytics and compare your top videos over 28 or 60 days. Look for a shared topic, format or hook, and make more of it. The Viewers tab also shows when your viewers were most active over the last 7 days.
- Batch. Film or script a week of videos in one session instead of setting up every day.
- Remake winners, don't repost them. Give a video that worked a new hook, a new angle or a follow-up. Unchanged or lightly modified reposts don't count as original for Creator Rewards.
Revid handles the production part:
- Search Revid's library of about 2.77 million short-form videos with engagement data for a format that already works in your niche.
- Choose "Same energy, new script" to turn it into an original video on your topic, or paste your own script or a link into the AI TikTok video generator.
- Revid adds scene visuals, an AI voice-over (70+ languages), captions and music. Fix anything in the timeline editor.
- Publish or schedule to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube from one queue. On paid plans, Auto-Mode workers can create a fresh video every day from a prompt.
If a video has realistic AI images, audio or video, turn on TikTok's AI-generated content label. Other AI tools cover parts of this workflow too; DreamShoot's AI TikTok video generator is one example.
FAQ
Can you monetize TikTok with fewer than 10,000 followers?
Yes. Brand deals, affiliate links and your own products have no follower minimum, LIVE Gifts start at 1,000 followers, and US creators can join TikTok Shop affiliate at 1,000. Only Creator Rewards needs 10,000 followers plus 100,000 views in the last 30 days.
Is the TikTok Creator Fund still running?
No. TikTok's current program for paying creators for views is the Creator Rewards Program, so old Creator Fund requirements and per-view rates no longer apply.
What if Creator Rewards isn't available in my country?
Earn through brand deals, affiliate links, your own products and an audience on other platforms, none of which depends on where TikTok offers the program. Check TikTok Studio from time to time, because Creator Rewards is not offered everywhere.
Can a Business account earn from Creator Rewards?
No. Creator Rewards requires a Personal account, and Business, political and government accounts are not eligible. A Business account can still sell products and work with brands.
Does labeling a video as AI-generated hurt its reach?
No. TikTok requires a label on AI-generated content with realistic images, audio or video, and says turning on the AI-generated content setting does not affect a video's distribution if it follows the Community Guidelines.
Can I monetize Instagram and TikTok with the same videos?
Yes. Upload the original file to each platform and adapt the caption to each one's rules (Instagram allows up to 5 hashtags per post). See how to monetize Instagram for its programs and requirements.
